Life doesn't allow for second chances, at least, that's how it seemed to four strangers on a San Fransicco bus in 1959: Harrison (Charles Grodin a would-be opera singer with stage fright: Penny, a single mother working nights to support her children: Milo (Tom Sizemore), a free-wheeling cat burglar who's feeling the pangs of conscience: and Julia, a young woman who's being forced to choose between marriage and independence. It wasn't until the day they died that finally got a second chance at life. Unfortunately, that second chance depended on the good nature of Thomas Reilly, the reluctant mortal who's fated to help the four earthbound souls in their quest to fulfil their unresolved dreams.
