Perhaps ideas have us. After all, ideas do appear to have a life of their own. Many biologists have already come to the opinion that our genes are selfish entities, tricking us into helping them to reproduce. Is it the same with our ideas? Jonnie Hughes, a science writer and documentary filmmaker, investigates the evolution of ideas in order to find out. Adopting the role of a cultural Charles Darwin, Hughes heads off, with his brother in tow, across the Midwest to observe firsthand the natural history of ideas--the patterns of their variation, inheritance, and selection in the cultural landscape. In place of Darwin's oceanic islands, Hughes visits the "mind islands" of Native American tribes. Instead of finches, Hughes searches for signs of natural selection among the tepees.--From publisher description.
2011
Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur
ISBN 9781439110232
The evolution of Bruno Littlemore : a novelent://SD_ILS/0/SD_ILS:1737042025-10-04T18:43:57Z2025-10-04T18:43:57ZHale, Benjamin
2011
Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur, Cawangan Taman Tun Dr Ismail Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur, Cawangan Bandar Baru Sentul
ISBN 9780446575904
The techno-human conditionent://SD_ILS/0/SD_ILS:2061012025-10-04T18:43:57Z2025-10-04T18:43:57ZAllenby, Braden R. Sarewitz, Daniel R.
2011
Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur
ISBN 9780262015691
Enforcing human rights in Australia : an evaluation of the new regimeent://SD_ILS/0/SD_ILS:1681082025-10-04T18:43:57Z2025-10-04T18:43:57ZGaze, Beth Hunter, Rosemary C. Law and Justice Foundation of New South Wales
Published in association with the Law and Justice Foundation of NSW this major study breaks new ground in exploring the effectiveness and accessibility of procedures for protecting the rights of individuals to equality and freedom from discrimination on the grounds of race, sex and disability. The enforcement of Australian federal anti-discrimination laws has encountered constitutional limitations. Because federal tribunals are unable to make binding decisions, in 2000 enforcement of federal discrimination matters was moved from a tribunal (the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission) to the federal courts. The study examines how the move from a specialist tribunal to the federal courts affected enforcement of federal anti-discrimination law. Drawing on statistical data, analysis of reported cases and interviews with parties and their advisors under both the 'old' and 'new' systems, it investigates the impact of the change in terms of: specialist versus generalist decision-making relatively informal versus formal procedures a regime in which each party bears their own costs versus one in which the loser pays the winner's costs The study traces the impact of these changes on the decisions made by complainants about whether (and where) to bring a complaint, whether to settle their cases or proceed to litigation, and on decisions made by respondents about whether to defend or settle a case. The enforcement process in federal discrimination matters was found to erect significant barriers to individuals seeking to pursue their claims in this area.
2010
Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur
ISBN 9781921113048
The evolution of obesityent://SD_ILS/0/SD_ILS:1349022025-10-04T18:43:57Z2025-10-04T18:43:57ZPower, Michael L. Schulkin, Jay
2009
Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur, Cawangan Bandar Baru Sentul Perpustakaan Jabatan Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur
ISBN 9780801892622
The ecological revolution : making peace with the planetent://SD_ILS/0/SD_ILS:2032822025-10-04T18:43:57Z2025-10-04T18:43:57ZFoster, John Bellamy
2009
Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur
ISBN 9781583671795
A dialogue between east and west : Looking to a human revolutionent://SD_ILS/0/SD_ILS:1000052025-10-04T18:43:57Z2025-10-04T18:43:57ZDiez-Hochleitner, Ricardo Ikeda, Daisaku
2008
Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur
ISBN 9781845115999
Show me the money : how to determine ROI in people, projects and programsent://SD_ILS/0/SD_ILS:932172025-10-04T18:43:57Z2025-10-04T18:43:57ZPhiliphs, Jack J. Phillips, Patricia Pulliam
2007
Perpustakaan Internet Bergerak Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur
ISBN 9781576753996
Primeval (DVD)ent://SD_ILS/0/SD_ILS:2624712025-10-04T18:43:57Z2025-10-04T18:43:57Z2007
Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur, Cawangan Taman Tun Dr Ismail
ISBN 9555275619941
Encyclopedia of human development (volume 1 )ent://SD_ILS/0/SD_ILS:773932025-10-04T18:43:57Z2025-10-04T18:43:57ZSalkind, Neil J.
2006
Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur
ISBN 9781412904759
Encyclopedia of human development (volume 2 )ent://SD_ILS/0/SD_ILS:773942025-10-04T18:43:57Z2025-10-04T18:43:57ZSalkind, Neil J.
2006
Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur
ISBN 9781412904759
Encyclopedia of human development (volume 3 )ent://SD_ILS/0/SD_ILS:773952025-10-04T18:43:57Z2025-10-04T18:43:57ZSalkind, Neil J.
2006
Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur
ISBN 9781412904759
Human : The definitive visual guideent://SD_ILS/0/SD_ILS:611072025-10-04T18:43:57Z2025-10-04T18:43:57Z2005
Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur
ISBN 9781405311557
Guns, germs and steel : a short history of everybody for the last 13,000 yearsent://SD_ILS/0/SD_ILS:2310052025-10-04T18:43:57Z2025-10-04T18:43:57ZDiamond, Jared M.
2005 1998
Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur
ISBN 9780099302780
Humanent://SD_ILS/0/SD_ILS:443162025-10-04T18:43:57Z2025-10-04T18:43:57Z2004
Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur
ISBN 9781405302333
The origin of mindsent://SD_ILS/0/SD_ILS:206532025-10-04T18:43:57Z2025-10-04T18:43:57ZLa Cerra, Peggy Bingham, Roger
2002
Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur
ISBN 9780609605585
Tell Me Why :Life and evolution [elektronik resource]ent://SD_ILS/0/SD_ILS:732772025-10-04T18:43:57Z2025-10-04T18:43:57ZExplains the pyramid of life, the origin of mankind, and how human is being formed.
