The enforcement of Australian federal anti-discrimination laws has encountered constitutional limitations. Because federal tribunals are unable to make binding decisions, in 2000 enforcement of federal discrimination matters was moved from a tribunal (the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission) to the federal courts. The study examines how the move from a specialist tribunal to the federal courts affected enforcement of federal anti-discrimination law. Drawing on statistical data, analysis of reported cases and interviews with parties and their advisors under both the 'old' and 'new' systems, it investigates the impact of the change in terms of: specialist versus generalist decision-making relatively informal versus formal procedures a regime in which each party bears their own costs versus one in which the loser pays the winner's costs The study traces the impact of these changes on the decisions made by complainants about whether (and where) to bring a complaint, whether to settle their cases or proceed to litigation, and on decisions made by respondents about whether to defend or settle a case. The enforcement process in federal discrimination matters was found to erect significant barriers to individuals seeking to pursue their claims in this area.
2010
Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur
ISBN 9781921113048
Race, gender and educational desire : Why black women succeed and failent://SD_ILS/0/SD_ILS:1151072025-10-03T06:44:14Z2025-10-03T06:44:14ZHeidi Safia Mirza
2009
Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur
ISBN 9780415448758
Working women : Opposing viewpointsent://SD_ILS/0/SD_ILS:1064992025-10-03T06:44:14Z2025-10-03T06:44:14ZFisanick, Christina
2008
Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur
ISBN 9780737737714
Women and leadership : the state of play and strategies for changeent://SD_ILS/0/SD_ILS:918562025-10-03T06:44:14Z2025-10-03T06:44:14ZKellerman, Barbara Rhode, Deborah L. O'Connor, Sandra Day
2007
Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur, Cawangan Bandar Baru Sentul Perpustakaan Internet Bergerak Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur, Cawangan Taman Tun Dr Ismail
ISBN 9780787988333
Social science and Malaysian National Developmentent://SD_ILS/0/SD_ILS:970752025-10-03T06:44:14Z2025-10-03T06:44:14ZAbdul Rahman Embong
2007
Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur, Cawangan Bandar Baru Sentul Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur, Cawangan Bandar Tun Razak Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur, Cawangan Desa Tun Razak Perpustakaan Internet Bergerak Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur, Cawangan Sri Pantai
ISBN 9789834364717
An equal chance for girls and womenent://SD_ILS/0/SD_ILS:1019392025-10-03T06:44:14Z2025-10-03T06:44:14ZAnderson, Judith
2007
Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur
ISBN 9780749673482
Freedom is not enough : The opening of the American workplaceent://SD_ILS/0/SD_ILS:1087382025-10-03T06:44:14Z2025-10-03T06:44:14ZMaclean, Nancy
2006
ISBN 9780674019096
Freedom is not enough : The opening of the American workplaceent://SD_ILS/0/SD_ILS:1087542025-10-03T06:44:14Z2025-10-03T06:44:14ZMaclean, Nancy
2006
Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur
ISBN 9780674019096
Freedom is not enough : The opening of the American work placeent://SD_ILS/0/SD_ILS:1100062025-10-03T06:44:14Z2025-10-03T06:44:14ZMaclean, Nancy
2006
ISBN 9780674019096
Selling woman short : the landmark battle for workers' rights at wal-martent://SD_ILS/0/SD_ILS:467192025-10-03T06:44:14Z2025-10-03T06:44:14ZFeatherstone, Liza
2004
Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur
ISBN 9780465023158
Beyond work-family balanceent://SD_ILS/0/SD_ILS:114672025-10-03T06:44:14Z2025-10-03T06:44:14ZRapoport, Rhona Bailyn, Lotte
2002
Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur
ISBN 9780787957308
Women at workent://SD_ILS/0/SD_ILS:10082025-10-03T06:44:14Z2025-10-03T06:44:14ZDickson, Anne
2000
ISBN 9780749433734
Feminism is for everybodyent://SD_ILS/0/SD_ILS:136712025-10-03T06:44:14Z2025-10-03T06:44:14ZHooks, Bell
2000
Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur
ISBN 9780745317335
Feminism is for everybody : passionate politicsent://SD_ILS/0/SD_ILS:1075582025-10-03T06:44:14Z2025-10-03T06:44:14ZHooks, Bell
2000
ISBN 9780896086289
Feminism is for everybody : passionate politicsent://SD_ILS/0/SD_ILS:1099472025-10-03T06:44:14Z2025-10-03T06:44:14ZHooks, Bell
2000
ISBN 9780896086289
Viewpoints : Equality of the sexes?ent://SD_ILS/0/SD_ILS:1582552025-10-03T06:44:14Z2025-10-03T06:44:14ZHaughton, Emma
1997
ISBN 9780749625771
The smart woman's guide to career successent://SD_ILS/0/SD_ILS:1521672025-10-03T06:44:14Z2025-10-03T06:44:14ZHauter, Janet
1993
ISBN 9781564140562
